Liquid Web is one of the oldest providers of VPS and dedicated servers. It’s more popular among agencies and developers, although it’s not the same company it used to be before it got acquired by One Equity Partners in 2023.

But is it good for reselling hosting?

Well, Liquid Web doesn’t offer plug-and-play cPanel reseller hosting like most other providers do.

What you can do is buy a VPS or a dedicated server then set up cPanel/WHM and any other software you need. You’ll have to buy licenses separately for those.

They offer reseller dedicated servers starting from $169 per month. This would be a managed server so they’ll help you set up cPanel/WHM and other server software, but it’s not fully managed. After the initial setup, they’ll handle future updates and patches for the OS and core software, but any additional software you install will be your responsibility to update and troubleshoot.

That’s not the best way to go about reseller hosting unless you have good sysadmin skills. But even if you have the skills, you could still waste a lot of time on server maintenance instead of focusing on your business.

Unless you really need the power of a dedicated server, it’s better to stick to shared reseller hosting providers instead of Liquid Web. Those are more affordable, fully managed by the provider, and you don’t have to pay for individual software licenses.
