Top Affordable Reseller Hosting Providers From Reddit & My Personal Experience

Best Reseller Hosting Providers on Reddit

I’ve been looking at reseller hosting threads on Reddit to see what other users recommend, but there are barely any good recommendations for reseller hosts in particular. There are plenty of discussions about shared hosting providers though, and some of those have reseller plans as well.

I’ve tried lots of hosts over the years, so here are my two cents:

My favorite cPanel reseller hosting providers that have a good reputation on Reddit are: Shock Hosting, ChemiCloud, VeeroTech and KnownHost.

Here’s what I think about each one in a nutshell…

1. Shock Hosting

Shock Hosting gets some mentions on Reddit for their shared hosting, but they also have cPanel reseller plans at reasonable prices.

I’ve used Shock Hosting for years. I appreciate their straightforward pricing; there are no tricky discounts or upsells. Renewal prices have never increased, and support is very responsive. It’s a small company but they treat you better as a customer than the big hosts.

Shock Hosting’s cheapest reseller hosting plan costs $19.99 per month. It includes 10 cPanel accounts with unlimited storage and bandwidth.

2. ChemiCloud

ChemiCloud is another provider that has good reviews on Reddit, and I’ve had a great experience with it myself.

Their servers are solid and I can’t remember having downtime or any other issues with them. The features check all the boxes for me. They have multiple global server locations in the USA, UK, Europe, and others.

The support team is easy to reach and they try to be as helpful as possible when there is an issue with your account. Beyond that, they may not help much with website-specific issues, but that’s also the case with most other hosts.

ChemiCloud is the cheapest reseller host I’d recommend if you need a large number of cPanel accounts. You get 60 cPanel accounts for $34.95/month. Some plans include a free WHMCS Starter license or you can choose a free Blesta license.

3. VeeroTech

VeeroTech is also one of the good old web hosts that gets positive feedback on Reddit and forums. It’s a small company that’s not into marketing hypes, but they are serious and their services are reliable.

Their reseller hosting plans start from $18.95 per month for 20 cPanel accounts. You get unlimited bandwidth, but the storage limit (20 GB) is a bit low for the price. It’s not bad for smallish websites. If you need more storage, Shock Hosting is a better option.

4. KnownHost

KnownHost is a very beloved provider within web hosting communities on Reddit, and the owner of the company is active on Reddit.

I’ve had a good experience with it myself, although I’m a bit less enthusiastic about it. Server performance is good and support is responsive. I just don’t like their outdated billing system.

There are also some outdated parts of their website and knowledge base. Other than that it’s a solid choice.

KnownHost’s reseller hosting plans start from $19.95 per month for 25 cPanel accounts with WHM. You can get WHMCS Starter for an additional fee at checkout.

Some Tips to Remember When Chooing a Reseller Host

These are just a few tips to keep in mind as you make up your mind about which provider to choose:

  • There is a consensus on Reddit that you should avoid companies owned by Newfold Digital, which include Bluehost, HostGator, ResellerClub, and several others. They have poor outsourced support, high renewal prices, and lots of upselling. I agree and I also avoid those companies.
  • There is no such thing as unlimited reseller hosting because every resource has certain limits. It’s more of a marketing term you shouldn’t take literally. Unlimited storage is limited by the number of inodes (files on the server). Unlimited bandwidth is usually limited by a fair usage policy.
  • Choose a provider that uses CloudLinux OS, which provides account isolation for each cPanel account. That way, if one user account gets infected with malware it won’t spread to other accounts on the server.
  • If you’re going to host WordPress websites, look for a provider that uses the LiteSpeed server software. It’s faster than Apache and comes with advanced caching features that can be controlled using their free WordPress plugin.
